Connecting researchers with the correct subject librarians to provide personalized research assistance is difficult as we can't assign an exhaustive list of subjects and synonyms to a librarian.
This application uses two AI prompts to connect a researcher to the correct librarian.
First, if a search term finds one or more librarians in our local directory an AI prompt will help select the most appropriate librarian from the results.
Second, if a search term is not found in the local directory an AI prompt will leverage the ability of AI to make a semantic association between the search term and a Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) knowledgebase of SDSU librarians to suggest an appropriate librarian (e.g. Artificial Intelligence = Computer Science Librarian).
